How shall it be?

“For if the word spoken by angel was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a jest recompense of reward, how shall escape” (Heb.2:2-3)

When St. Virgin Mary heard the greeting of that angel she disturbed, and didn’t understand the accidental revelation and unfamiliar speech of the angle. But she didn’t try to flee from hearing the word of the angel. Instead of this, in order to understand the message of the good tiding, she asked, “How this shall be, seeing I know not man?

St. Mary knows that to obey the word of Holy angel brings to her the grace of God; however, the message was contrasted with her vow that she vowed to God to live as Virgin. Therefore she asked the angel “seeing I know not a man” that means I vowed to God to continue as virgin, so how can it be?

The question of St. Mary is indeed correct. Because cancelling the vow to God is great sin. What says the bible in Ecclesiastes “better is it that you should not vow, that you should vow and not pay, suffer not your mouth to cause your flesh to sin.(Ecc.5:4-5)

Christocentric asceticism

Any Christian teaching must be Christ centered. When I say Christ centered teachings, I mean that which follows the teaching and doing of Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught about Asceticism practically, when he went to wilderness after His baptism. After He passed there with fasting and praying for forty days, He went back to the people and preached the Gospel to them.

 After He finished His preaching He usually went to the wilderness and led the solitary life by spending his time on prayer (Luke, 6:13). He was not restricted himself in wilderness or lived within the people. He has a time to be alone and to spend with his sheep. This is practical teaching of Jesus Christ about Asceticism.

“ከእኛ ጌታ በቀር ለእጮኛው ራሱን አሳልፎ የሰጠ ሰው ማን ነው? ከቤተ ክርስቲያንስ በቀር የሞተ ሰው ለእርሱዋ ባልዋ ይሆን ዘንድ የምትሻ ሴትስ ማን ናት? ዓለም ከተፈጠረ ጀምሮ ደሙን የጥሎሽ ስጦታ አድርጎ ያቀረበ ሰው ማን ነው? በመስቀል ላይ ራሱን መሥዋዕት አድርጎ ካቀረበ  ከአንድዬ በቀር ጋብቻውን በሕማሙ ያተመ ሰው ማን ነው ? ከሞተ አካል መጽናናት ታገኝ ዘንድ በእቅፎቹዋ ይዛ በሰርግዋ በዓል ላይ የተገኘች ሙሽራ ከዚህ በፊት ታይታ አትታወቅም ? በየትኛውስ የሰርግ በዓል ላይ ነው የሙሽራውን ሥጋ በመቁረስ በሰርጉ ለታደሙት እንግዶች መብል ይሆን ዘንድ የተሰጠው?

ሚስት በባሏ ሞት ምክንያት ፍቺን ትፈጽማለች ፡፡ ይቺ ሚስት ግን በውድ ባሏ ሞት ምክንያት ከእርሱ ጋር ፍጹም ተዋሕዶን አደረገች፡፡ እርሱ በመስቀል ላይ ራሱን በመሠዋት ቅዱስ የሆነውን ሥጋውን ሁሌም ትመገበው ዘንድ  ክብርት ለሆነችው ሙሽራው መብል አድርጎ አቀረበላት ፡፡ ጉኑንም በመወጋት ቅዱስ ደሙን በጽዋው ሞልቶ ሰጣት ፡፡ በዚህም ምክንያት በልቡዋ ያኖረቻቸው ጣዖታት ሁሉ ተወገዱላት ፡፡ በእርሱም ቅዱስ ቅባት ከበረች ፤ እርሱንም በጥምቀት ውኃ ለበሰችው ፤ በሕብስት መልክ ተመገበችው ፤ እንደ ወይንም ጠጣችው ፡፡ በዚህም ምክንያት ሁለቱ በፍጹም ተዋሐዱ  አንድ እንደሆኑ ዓለም ሁሉ አወቀ ፡፡
